Embracing Your Unchangeable Self: A Journey of Choices
Written on
Chapter 1: The Nature of Choices
Every aspect of our lives revolves around the choices we make. From the moment we wake up to the time we sleep, we are faced with countless decisions—from selecting our meals to choosing our attire and the routes we take. These daily choices define our humanity. Once we cease to make choices, we risk losing a vital part of ourselves.
However, certain aspects of our lives are dictated by fate or nature. One such aspect is the family into which we are born. Our family background plays a crucial role in shaping our behaviors and patterns.
A few years ago, a parish priest delivered a sermon on the uniqueness inherent in each individual. Citing the Prophet Jeremiah 1:4–5, he emphasized, "Before you were born, I knew you." This scripture served as a reminder for us to cherish our own identities.
He highlighted that some individuals might wish to have been born with different attributes—like lighter skin or wealthier circumstances. Many may dream of being born into a privileged family or in a more prosperous nation. Yet, such wishes often remain unfulfilled. As the saying goes, "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride." Nevertheless, do we abandon our hopes? Absolutely not. Hope remains the last ember to fade.
Until we achieve a better world, the yearning for change will persist. And this message is for you, the reader: You are the finest version of yourself. Many individuals aspire to be like you; countless people look up to you. You need not transform into someone else; instead, strive to enhance the version of yourself that already exists.
Section 1.1: Reflecting on Origins
This brings me to a thought-provoking question: If you had the chance, would you choose a different family, country, or skin color? Personally, I'm undecided. What are your thoughts on this?
Chapter 2: The Power of Self-Acceptance
In this chapter, we delve deeper into the idea that embracing who we are is essential for personal growth.
The second video, titled "You Can Change Your Personality by Doing This One Thing," explores how small, deliberate actions can lead to profound personal changes.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm Stanley Chibuike, and while I aspire to change many things in my life, I still love and appreciate all of you.
