# From $30 to $300 on Medium: My Journey and Tips for Success

Chapter 1: My Medium Experience
My journey on Medium has been quite fulfilling, and I believe I've uncovered the secret to success. It's important to note that only about 6 to 7 percent of writers on Medium earn $100 or more monthly. This indicates that you might struggle to break into the $100-a-month category, or conversely, you might quickly find yourself earning between $1,000 and $2,000. The possibilities on Medium are endless, depending on your writing focus and audience.
For those who are new to writing, especially if Medium is your debut platform, the road ahead won't be easy. Initially, you will need to absorb a lot of information to understand what resonates with the audience and what doesn't. Fortunately, I've been fortunate enough to stay on course, having read extensively before diving into writing.
I Went From $30 to $300
Believe it or not, I managed to elevate my earnings from $30 to $300 in a mere three months. This isn't related to my other profile (Kiran Yasmin), which already generates a decent income; rather, it's about this new profile that has seen significant growth. My approach wasn't anything extraordinary—just a few strategic changes that I want to share with you for your own success on Medium. Let’s dive in.
Regardless of whether you have a full-time job or numerous responsibilities at home, it's crucial to push yourself to publish regularly. Like many of you, I have family obligations and various tasks to manage. Yet, I made it a point to publish several stories each week. The reality is that Medium does not reward writers who fail to produce fresh content consistently. This platform is a long-term endeavor, and we must take it seriously if we aim to see real returns.
The length of your articles and the tags you select are critical. A lengthy 2,000-word piece that fails to deliver value won’t earn more than a concise 300-400 word article that engages readers. Short, impactful posts are definitely viable. Moreover, using appropriate tags is essential, as they dictate where your content appears on the site and the number of views or reads you can expect.
Don’t set your sights on high earnings per article. I never did, knowing that sometimes stats can be disappointing, and earnings can fluctuate. I recommend focusing on your total monthly income rather than the revenue from individual articles. Some pieces will naturally attract more views than others, but remember not to fixate on the numbers. They can vary widely, and obsessing over them won’t yield quick profits.
