Chapter 1: The Journey of Transformation
Transformation may seem trivial at first glance, but it carries profound significance.

When we think of 'Transformers', we don’t mean the blockbuster films. My childhood wasn’t heavily invested in toys until a visit to my cousin’s house revealed a world of wonder. Every holiday season, I was delighted with new books and Lego sets from my parents, but that particular Christmas opened my eyes to a different kind of magic—one that I craved.
Before that moment, I could only see vehicles as they were: cars and trucks. Witnessing my cousin morph them into superheroes was both mesmerizing and inspiring. Unbeknownst to me, this ignited a spark of daydreaming that often distracted me in school.
However, as adulthood approached, that festive memory faded. I never intended to become a transformer, yet I found myself undergoing transformation multiple times. It has dawned on me that nothing is as it seems, and the possibility of transformation is always within reach—simple as child’s play.
The process of transformation might be so straightforward that you could doubt it. While we may believe in miracles, we must acknowledge that real change requires a methodical approach. Just as a baby doesn’t start walking immediately after drinking milk, transformation takes time and development.
It all begins in the mind, which possesses the power to believe and manifest what it repeatedly hears. We will now harness this power for our benefit.
In the following story, I outline my transition from athlete to artist. This shift was fraught with anxiety, as I had never perceived myself as creative, nor had anyone suggested I might be. The idea of becoming an artist felt absurd. Yet, I couldn’t shake it and cautiously began declaring my creativity in my journal, even when I hadn’t produced anything tangible.
Doubt often clouded my journey; I wrestled with logic and frequently dismissed what I termed ‘crazy thoughts’. Ultimately, the practice of affirming my creativity—by both verbalizing and writing that I was creative—started to alter how I viewed myself. It may sound peculiar or even magical, but I genuinely began to embrace my creativity.
Thoughts breed desires—Myron Golden
I’ve heard Myron Golden state that the primary reason people act is because they feel compelled to.
Surprisingly, I began to feel the urge to create.
Fortune smiled upon me when I became an Assistant, fortunate to work under a Lead Teacher who recognized my creativity and assigned me various artistic tasks. I often found myself immersed in projects long after work hours, creating graduation photo books for students. This experience significantly influenced my decision to delve into photography, leading me to adopt the mantra:
“I am a photographer who needs to earn as I learn.” — I had bills to pay, after all.
And I succeeded!
Eventually, I grew weary of the early mornings and long drives as a school photographer, so I began expressing my desire for a managerial role at a studio—and I achieved that too.
This process is incredibly simple, and I hope it motivates you to pursue it. I would never suggest something I haven’t experienced myself or believed would be beneficial for you.
You can change your life by affirming what you desire, a practice that is as exciting as it is magical. I firmly believe that being comes before doing and having.
Added Bonus
Love involves both giving and receiving. For anyone seeking love, being lovable is integral to who you are or who you can become.
One side of the coin represents loving, a skill most of us excel at. The other side, however, is about accepting love, which can be challenging if we don’t believe we are worthy of it. I, too, had to confront this reality earlier this year by adopting a new set of affirmations.
The God who proclaims Himself as love also instructed us to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart.”
Isn’t it intriguing that God positions Himself as both loving and lovable? — Just a thought.
