Mastering Keyword Difficulty for Your Affiliate Blog Posts

Chapter 1: Understanding Keywords in Affiliate Marketing
Keywords are essential tools in the online marketing landscape, playing a pivotal role in boosting the visibility of my affiliate articles on search engines like Google.
To uncover valuable keywords, I utilize a reliable keyword research tool. Today, I’m excited to walk you through my approach.
Diib Keyword Explorer: A Key Resource
For my keyword exploration, I rely on the Diib Keywords Explorer. Its user-friendly interface allows me to find lesser-known keywords effectively.
Here’s my methodology:
Step One: I start by selecting the geographical area of my target audience and enter a keyword that potential customers might use, such as "Affiliate Marketing."
Step Two: I analyze the search volume and ranking difficulty. The critical question is:
Can I incorporate this keyword into my blog content?
When examining the keyword "Affiliate Marketing," I discover it has a high difficulty level, with 201,000 monthly searches.
To succeed with this keyword, I need to enhance my site's authority before I can effectively write about it. Instead, I focus on keywords with search volumes between 100 and 1,000 that have an easier ranking difficulty. Occasionally, I explore medium-difficulty keywords as well.
If your blog has been active for some time and is generating decent traffic, you might consider targeting medium-difficulty keywords and, eventually, even more challenging ones as your authority grows.
For this instance, I selected the keyword "Affiliate marketing as a business," which is a long-tail keyword. This strategy is necessary because the affiliate marketing niche is highly competitive.
If I had initially targeted just "affiliate marketing," my chances of ranking well would be quite low.
Integrating Keywords Effectively
When writing, I ensure that I incorporate keywords naturally within my titles, at least one H2 or H3, and aim for a keyword density of 1-2%. I also include them throughout the content, in meta descriptions, and within image alt texts.
I avoid keyword stuffing, as it detracts from the readability of my content. My primary goal is to provide an enjoyable reading experience.
For instance, I crafted the title: "Why You Should Start Affiliate Marketing As A Business." You’ll note that "Affiliate Market" appears at the top of my keyword list. While it has a substantial search volume of 201,000, its ranking difficulty is high, making it unsuitable for a new blog.
Exploring Additional Examples
Let’s take a closer look at the title: "How I Check Keyword Difficulty For My Affiliate Blog Articles." My original keyword research focused on "easy to rank keywords." While this keyword is easy to rank for, it has a low monthly volume of only 70.
Through further exploration, I found "Check keyword difficulty," which has a monthly volume of 720 and is easy to rank.
Relevance and Search Intent
When selecting a keyword, I consider not just search volume and difficulty but also its relevance and the intent behind the search. This aspect is crucial, as it greatly affects the effectiveness of my content.

Adapting to Keyword Difficulty Changes
It’s important to remember that keyword difficulty is not static; it can fluctuate based on competition and changes in search algorithms. As my site grows in authority, I gradually aim for more competitive keywords while closely monitoring my domain authority, which currently stands at 19—an increase of one point recently!
Measuring Success
I track my progress through various metrics, including click-through rates, conversions, and bounce rates.
